A Stitchless Week

It's been a busy week with no time for stitching or blogging. My nephew was on Spring break so he and my sister came to visit.  We didn't do anything exciting, but you know how it is when you have houseguests.  Your schedule goes right out the window. 

Fortunately I finished my little project for a swap I was involved in with a sampler group on Facebook.  I was stitching for a lady who loves blue and green, which is my favorite color combination so it was an easy and fun thing for me to do.  I found this little ceramic planter among my treasures, so I stitch a a little Bargellow pattern and made some twisted cord for a pin cushion.

Since finished Margret Gatis I picked up a little piece from Country Cottage Needlework that is perfect for Spring, "Bunny Hop".  I'm seriously considering omitting the 'hippity hop' lettering and using a textured stitch for all that grassy area, rather than just cross stitch. 

I haven't worked on it all week, but hopefully it will be a little more colorful real soon.

Do You Love Bargello?

Most people think of Bargello as a family of stitches for canvas work, but lots of designers use it in their samplers on linen. And I became fascinated with it several years ago. You may remember the needlebooks I made for gifts for my stitch group last Christmas. So many patterns and variations allow you to indulge your creativity. Anyway, I discovered. this site dedicated to bargello and wanted to share it with you. Enjoy. You should probably bookmark it because you'll be coming back time and time again.

I am not dead yet.

If you hear that title with a British accent you've probably watched "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" one too many times. I know I have.

Some of you probably thought I had died and gone to that great stitch group in the sky, but no, I'm still here. We had a great week with my in-laws, et al, and ate WAY TOO MUCH, but now they're gone and I'm about three steps away from falling into a coma. So I'll make this short.

I did manage to get some stitching done yesterday while most of the family played golf. (And I have something to show for it, unlike them.) I stitched all the basics on this Christmas tree from Emie Bishop. Cutting and weaving should be done by the weekend.

I also chose all the coordinating fabrics for my bargello experiment needlebooks. Won't bother you with those until they are assembled and actually might incite a couple of comments. Still have about ten Christmas ornies to stitch and two dozen to finish, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Now, if I could just teach Lester to stitch.

Who knew the Christmas Panic Could Cause So Much Blogging Angst?

I'm really tired of not being able to show you the sampler I am working on now. But blame it on L., who is a wonderful friend and birthday recipient of said sampler, and reads my blog like a loyal friend should. If I wasn't so needy, I'd tell her to quit reading for a couple of months, so I could show the rest of you my progress. But I'm not sure I would trust her not to peek anyway.

So, I will share a little more of my continuing bargello experimeent. Alas, I cannot explain the details of this experiment with you either. Man, I have way too many secrets. But fear not, I will show you the finished projects and tell you all the gory details in the upcoming weeks.
